Abstract
608,015. Twisting and winding yarn. KINSELLA, E. Feb. 14, 1946, No. 4622. [Class 120(ii)] A yarn twisting and winding machine comprises a series of vertical spindles, a horizontal lifter rail adapted to be vertically reciprocated and to traverse yarn upon bobbins on said spindles, a plurality of vertical poker rods for carrying and actuating the lifter rail, and guide means for each poker rod covering a substantial part of the length thereof, said poker rods being disposed in pairs along the length of the rail the rods of each pair being at substantially the same distance along the length of the rail, one being attached rigidly near one edge of the rail and the other being attached flexibly near the other edge. The ring rail 31 is vertically reciprocated by pairs of poker rods 25, 26 sliding in vertical bearings 21, 22, 23, 24 and reciprocated by horizontal traverse rails 18 through chains 20, falling over sprockets 15, attached to the mid-point of yokes 28 connecting the bottoms of the rods 25, 26. The connection at the foot of the rod 26 is by a tappet arrangement 30 and that at the top by a domed bearing and compression spring. The tappet guide 47, which may be turned upwardly for doffing a filled bobbin, is reciprocated vertically through a rail 45 attached to the top of two rods 44 operated by linkwork 50, 51, 52, from the yokes 28. The traverse of the tappet 47 is somewhat less than that of the ring rail. The rail 45 is in two portions with a flexible connection 53 therebetween.
