Abstract
665,067. Fixing door &c. frames. LENTON, J. E., and DOWNES, E. W. Sept. 27, 1950 [Oct. 27, 1949], No. 27539/49. Classes 20(iii) and 20(iv) A door or like frame 9 is fixed to a cavity wall 1, 2 by securing the frame to a holdfast 4 which has a shank 6 located wholly in the cavity 3 of the wall, and a portion 7, 8 which projects laterally from the shank into the masonry of the wall. The holdfast is flanged at 5 for attachment to the jamb 9, and the shank split to form laterally projecting portions 7, 8, which are twisted so that portions 7a, 8a rest flat on the upper surface of the masonry and portions 7b, 8b have their edges uppermost to cause any moisture creeping along parts 7a, 8a to drip into the cavity. The free ends of parts 7a, 8a are also bifurcated. The holdfast is secured to the jamb with parts 7a 8a resting on the top of the partly built wall which is then completed. The wall 2 extends beyond wall 1 so the jamb abuts the end of wall 1 and the inner face of wall 2, and a damp proof course 11 of flexible material is located between the jamb and the end face of wall 1 and abuts the inner face of wall 2, its end being curled inwardly.
