6 01,7 0 8. Window surround frames. METAL CASEMENTS, Ltd., STEPHENS, A., and HUBBARD, A. K. Sept. 4, 1945, No. 22679. [Class 20(iii)] A surround frame 10 for a window to be secured in a wall opening in contact with the edges thereof is made of sheet metal pressed inwardly between the inner 12 and outer 13 sides to form a continuous hollow inwardly projecting shoulder 11 against which the window frame 30, 36 can be secured, extends at one side of the shoulder to form a lining 14 extending, completely around the wall opening, and extends beyond the inner surface of the wall with an outwardly bent end portion 15 extending over the inner surface of the wall and plaster, &c. and forms a complete lining and continuous corner for the wall opening. As shown the glazed frame 35 is fixed, 36 is hinged horizontally at 37, and 30 and 31 are hinged vertically at 26 in the surround frame which may have a channel section pelmet strip 16, and brackets 17 carrying curtain rails 18. On the other side of the shoulder is an outward extension 13 which, at the lower limb extends over the sill as at 19. A strip 9 may connect across the opening of the shoulder 11, and lugs may be fitted for fixing the frame to the wall.
