Abstract

872,870. Doors; window frames. LUNDGREN, G. P. H. Sept. 18, 1957 [Sept. 20, 1956], No. 29412/57. Class 20(3) Framing for a window, door, or the like, particularly a double window, comprises metallic members, such as 15, 17, each having a portion 18 substantially parallel with the plane of the frame opening and directed towards an opposite frame member and a portion 19 at right angles to the portion 18, the latter carrying a rib 20, 21 which supports a strip 23 for urging the window 24, or door, against an abutment 25 on the portion 18. The framing also comprises L-section cornerpieces 32, Fig. 5, the edges of which are held in grooves 29 and 30, formed on the rib flange 20 and the portion 19 respectively, preferably by deforming a flange 28 and a bentover end 31 to engage in recesses 33 in the corner piece 32. The rib flanges 20, 21 form a channel 22 having grooves 26 in which screws 27 for retaining the strip 23 can be engaged at any point. An L-section portion (not shown) of a hinge between the outer and inner sashes may be held in the grooves 29 and 30 in similar fashion to the cornerpieces 32. A bracket 37, Fig. 4, for mounting a latch dog comprises a leg 40 with a flange 41 engaging in the groove 30 and a leg 42 which is screwed to the rib 20, 21 as described with reference to the cornerpieces 32. The portion 19 on the top and bottom frame members has an extension such as 44 which engages the inner sash 11. A metallic moulding 46 is nailed to the bottom fixed frame 10 and has holes 48 leading to a ventilation channel 47 and a flange for mounting a drip flange 461.
