Abstract

653,549. Reversible windows. PERSSON, E. S. Nov. 8, 1948, No. 28961. [Class 20(iii)] 20(iii) In a reversible window of the type comprising a frame in which two coupled sashes can pivot through 180 degrees about a horizontal axis and can then be disengaged to allow the inner sides of the glass in each sash to be cleaned, each sash has a rectangular frame formed of metal profiled section bar and having jointless, rounded corners between all four sides of the rectangle. In the form shown, a window frame 1 has two sashes 2 and 3 hinged together along their lower edges and reversible as a unit about horizontal pivots. Each sash frame is formed in two halves from metal profiles of the section shown in Fig. 2, the profiles being bent to U-form with rounded corners and the two halves being joined in the region of the pivots. Each frame 2 or 3 has a channel 4 or 8 to hold a pane 5 or 9 and a channel 6 or 10 to hold junction pieces such as 13 which hold the halves together. The inner frame 2 also has two internal channels 7 which accommodate' movable curtain holders and guides. Draught between the sashes and frame is prevented by a rubber sealing strip 21a carried by the inner sash and a strip 21 carried by the frame 1 and engaging a flange 19 formed on the inner sash frame.
