Abstract
664,796. Moulding-machines. SCHEMMANN, W. May 23, 1949 [Oct. 15, 1948], No. 13705/49. Class 83 (i). [Also in Group XXX] In a machine for blowing sand into a mould or core box the compressed air is admitted to the sand container solely in proximity to its bottom. Sand may be placed in a hollow cone 1 fixed in box 2 carried on rails 16 along which it is moved to bring it between a core-box 4 and a plate 5 with air supply 6. The box 4 is clamped, air pressure is admitted behind a flexible sheet 15 to press the plate 5 on the cone 1 and box 2 and these on the' box 4. Compressed air is then admitted by the pipe 6, annular space a and slot s to the cone, thus forcing the sand through a hole 3 into the box 4. When this is full, pressure in the pipe 6 is relieved and air from the cone 1 is exhausted through a pipe 9 and check-valve 10. The clamp 18 may comprise a flexible sheet and be operated like the sheet 15. In a modification, the cone 1 may be omitted and the compressed air supplied through an annular passage p, Fig. 2, and radial or upwardly-directed passages 19. There may be two sand containers so that one is in use while the other is being charged.
