Abstract
798,796. Moulding-machines. INDUSTRIAL FOUNDRY MATERIALS, Ltd. June 11, 1956 [July 15, 1955], No. 20595/55. Class 83 (1). In a shell-moulding process, moulding material is forced upwardly from a container on to the pattern or core-box by the pressure of a compressed gas applied directly to the moulding material from below, and the pressure is afterwards removed so that the unused material is caused to fall back into the container, thereby creating a region of reduced pressure in the vicinity of the pattern plate and causing any surplus moulding material to be removed from the pattern plate and sucked back into the container. Core-boxes are mounted on a plate 15 and moulding mix 17 blown from a container 12 by compressed air supplied through a nozzle 21. In an alternative arrangement there are two cylinders 12, so that one may be in use while the operator attends to the other. An angle head attachment, Fig. 2, is used when moulding, e.g. hollow cores, to avoid long horizontal surfaces.
