776,095. Moulding-machines. KELSEYHAYES CO., [formerly KELSEY-HAYES WHEEL CO.]. April 26, 1955 [June 16, 1954], No. 12036/55. Class 83 (1). A sand-moulding machine of the type having a pressure-applying member, such as a diaphragm 3, for packing sand in the flask 1, comprises a pouring-cup and sprue-forming device comprising a pattern-plate 4 having an opening 5 therethrough, an upright tubular-member 6 on said plate registering with the opening, and a pouring-cup form 7 on the pressure-applying member movable therewith and into registration with said tubular member to form a pouring-cup in the sand, communicating with the interior of the tubular-member 6, which latter provides for the escape of sand during the forming of the pouring-cup, and the forming of a sprue in the sand in connection with the pouring-cup.
