Abstract
664,559. Knitting-machines. STIBBE & CO., Ltd., G., STIBBE, E. V., and BROWN, A. M. March 15, 1950 [April 29, 1949], No. 11437/49. Class 74 (ii). The pivoted trapper 5 of a trapping and severing device is held in its operative position by a lug 13 engaging the tail 28 of the trapper, the lug 13 being attached to a tubular member 14 which is actuated by mechanism operated by cams on the pattern drum and which through a compression spring 16 projects a cam 10 to effect the introduction of the welt instruments mounted in the dial of a circular machine to their advanced position. A certain amount of lost motion between the member 14 and the cam 10' enables the mechanism to be operated at required times by cams on the pattern drum to depress the member 14 and withdraw the lug 13 from engagement with the trapper 5, the trapper then only holding the yarns under its own weight and during which time a yarn can be withdrawn from operation and introduced beneath the trapper. After its introduction the yarn is additionally gripped by the lug 13 urging the trapper into its operative position after the mechanism has released the member 14 which is then urged upwardly by the spring 16.
