Abstract
840,618. Knitting-machines. PATCHETT, G. W. Oct. 17, 1958, No. 33255/58. Class 74 (2). A hand-operated flat machine has a device for warning the operator of the approaching end of the supply of yarn from the bobbin. It comprises a pivoted arm 36 containing a spring, the hooked end 38 of which is attached to a loop of the yarn formed in it near to the end of the supply on the bobbin. The yarn passes to the needles through a cymbal-tensioning device 17, 19 and a spring-tensioning arm 24 and as the supply is diminished the loop eventually is drawn towards the tensioning devices and simultaneously pivots arm 36. The pivoting of arm 36 simultaneously actuates a second arm 33 on an over-centre action such that the end 34 of arm 33 strikes a bell 32 which thereby gives the necessary indication to the operator. The bobbin, tensioning devices and warning device are all mounted on the cam slide of the machine.
