[Class 74 (ii).] The yarn fingers 13 of a yarn-changing device for a dial knitting machine are pivoted to swing above the rib needles on a vertical pivot 14. Each newly-introduced yarn is taken first by the rib needles. Slides 23 actuated selectively to release each finger in turn as required are connected by springs 29 to the detents 25 which normally hold the fingers in feeding position. The springs move the detents into engagement with the slides and also retract the slide which is out of engagement therewith. At the rear of the detents 25 is a pivoted block 32, engageable by shoulders 34 on the slides 23, for releasing the corresponding detents. The fingers 13, slides 23 &c. are operated by starwheel and striker mechanism. There may be additional guide eyes on the fingers for plating yarns. The idle yarns are placed by a rotary hook 53 in a fork 49, 50 situated between the yarn-changing device and the trapper. The fixed and movable jaws 42, 44 of the trapper are corrugated in a direction transverse to the axis of the pivot 52. The jaw 44 is operated by the hook 53 acting on a cam 48 on a spring arm 46.
