Abstract

664,535. Vehicle driving mirrors. CLARK, L. M. April 3, 1950 [April 2, 1949; Dec. 5. 1949; Jan. 13, 1950], Nos. 9008/49, 31125/49 and 879/50. Class 103(ii) [Also in Group XXV] An anti-dazzle attachment for use with a vehicle. driving mirror 8 comprises a shield 7 movably attached to the mirror by hinges each comprising a pair of sheet metal strips 9, 10 twisted intermediate their ends and interconnected by a pivot pin. The attachments which secure each strip 9 to the shield 7 also secure a blade spring'14, the free end of which engages the end of the strip 10, secured to the mirror 8 by clips 11, 13 and a spring 12, so that the shield 7 may be retained in the position shown or in a raised postion with the spring 14 in contact with the rear upper edge of the strip 10. In an alternative arrangement, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the clips 11, 13 and the spring 12 are dispensed with and the back plate of the mirror is formed with a pair of vertically disposed slots to accommodate the free ends of the strips 10.
