1291004 Folding tables BREMSHEY A G 19 April 1971 [15 April 1970] 26375/71 Heading A4H A folding table has a vertical side frame 1, Fig. 2, and two end supports 6 which fold between a position of use transverse to frame 1 and a folded position alongside and substantially parallel to frame 1, and at least two table leaves 5 each hinged along one edge at 4 to the frame 1 to fold between a horizontal position of use and a folded position substantially vertically alongside the frame 1, each leaf 5 being provided with retaining elements 13 which co-operate with the end supports 6 to locate the leaf in the position of use and which engage the side frame 1 with a snap action to locate the leaf in the folded position. The retaining elements each comprise a corrugated spring tongue 13, Fig. 9, having a detent 23 that engages a detent 16 of a corrugated spring hook 15 on a vertical member 8 of the end support 6. The detent 23 of the retaining element 13 snap engages either with a vertical frame member 2 of side frame 1, Fig.11 (not shown) or with a catch pin (27), Figs. 12, 13 (not shown) seated on a hairpin leaf-spring (29) mounted within the vertical member 2. The lower leaf 5 is folded upwardly, the upper leaf 5 is folded downwardly, and the end supports 6 are automatically folded by springs in members 2. The hinges (4<SP>1</SP>), Figs.7, 8 (not shown) of the leaves 5 may alternatively comprise U-shaped components (25) of spring steel or plastics that snap on to horizontal frame members 3 of the side frame 1.
