Abstract
648,594. Folding furniture underframes. MOYNAHAN BRONZE CO. Dec. 2, 1948, No. 31232. Convention date, Feb. 17. [Class 52 (iii)] A folding support such as a stool has pivoted to its underside at each side a pair of legs which fold outwardly and over on to the top of the support. As shown the frame 2 of a stool has a pair of legs 6, 7 preferably formed as quadrilateral tubes the upper transverse member 8 of each pair being held in a recess 11 of a leaf 10 of a hinge of the form shown so that the legs may be folded on to the top of the stool. A latch may be provided which preferably consists of a pair of plungers 15 spring urged into engagement with the legs in operative position and provided with cam slots 18 with which cam fingers 21 of an actuating bar 19 may engage. The legs 7 are disposed wider apart than the legs 6 to facilitate nesting in the folded position.
