Abstract

678,300. Vehicle hoods. TICKFORD, Ltd. Nov. 1, 1950 [Nov. 1, 1949], No. 27992/49. Addition to 501,078. Class 108(i) A folding head as described in the parent Specification is adapted for use in a fixed head type body by securing the rear end 24 of the roof covering 21 to the rear edge of an opening 10 in the fixed roof and arranging for the floating front rail 26 to be held againt a transverse frame member 18 defining the front edge of the opening 10. An intermediate roof-stick 44 may be provided being urged forwardly by springs 53 to keep the stay wires 52 taut. The side edges of the roof covering are held in contact with the body by tensioning wires 40 and by curved extension members 46 hinged to the hoop-stick 44. The members 46 are biassed downwardly by wires 56 which are connected through the transverse openings 59 to the rearward ends of the springs 53. The roof covering may be secured to a separate framework which can be inserted directly in an opening in the fixed head.
