261,883. Hall, F. H. Oct. 2, 1925. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Hoods. - A valence 3 for a motorvehicle hood is provided with a longitudinally-disposed cord 4 or the like attached to or engaged with the valence and is maintained resiliently in tension against the windows or sides-creens 2 when the hood is extended, the ends of the cord being attached respectively to the front and rear hoop-sticks or other relatively fixed supports. The cord 4 may be elastic and is inserted in a piping 5 formed in the valence, the ends of the cord being attached to hooks 9, 11 on the hoop-sticks. When a non-elastic cord is used, small tension springs are inserted between each end of the cord and its hook. When the side of the body has a curved formation the valence is held against the windows by springs placed intermediate of the length of the cord and attached to the hood stick and valence. The gap between the vertical edge of the rear portion of the hood 6, Fig. 6, and the adjacent edge of the rearmost window is provided with a hinged closure member 14 stiffened by celluloid 13, and which may be provided with a hook member 18 which engages a recess 19 in the window frame.
