Abstract

663,443. Seats. BALDWYN, H. A. Sept. 15, 1950. [Sept. 15, 1949] No. 23778/49. Class 52 (ii). A folding chair comprises a seat frame having side limbs, a front legs member pivoted at the front of the frame side limbs and a rear legs member pivoted to the rear of said side limbs, the legs side members being extended beyond its pivots to form or carry stops for abutment against the upper side of the seat frame side limbs when in the operative position of the chair. As shown the seat frame 1 comprises a U-shaped member having side limbs 2 and a. front transverse member 8. The front legs member is a similar U-shape the side members 4 being pivoted to the side limbs 2 at 9 and adapted to abut against the transverse member 8 when the chair is erected. In addition a toggle stay 12, 13 is provided as shown. The rear legs member is also of U-shape the side members 5 being pivoted at 18 to the rear of the seat frame side limbs 2 and extended beyond such pivot to carry a transverse rod 17 which abuts against the upper side of the side limbs 2 when the chair is erected. Any form of back rest may be provided but as shown may comprise side members 19 pivoted to the side limbs 2 at 21 and provided with a swivelling back rest 20. In addition lugs 22 are provided adapted to spring over the bar 17 when the chair is erected.
