Abstract
662,631. Flushing cisterns. GRATIX, Ltd., S., and FILDES, T. R. Dec. 19, 1947 [Nov. 20, 1946; Dec. 4, 1947], Nos. 34375/46 and 31991/47. Class 26 In a flushing cistern in which siphon discharge is initiated by an external lever 26 connected to a piston or the like in a cylindrical part 20 of the up flow leg 14 of the siphon 13, the latter is supported directly or indirectly upon a wall or like fixed structure so that its cylinder 20 is spaced above the base 7 of the tank 5, whilst the lever 26 is supported jointly by the siphon and an end 8 or the sides 6 of the tank. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the siphon 13 comprises a hollow crown casting 16 and a down flow leg 15 outside the tank and mounted in a wall bracket 21 having one or more preferably swivellable arms 22 to engage under the tank. The crown 16 is secured to the wall as at 23 and has an extension 24 secured to an end 8 by the inlet valve 17, and a forked lug 25 to receive the lever 26. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the tank is supported by wall brackets 28 whilst the lever 26 oscillates on a rod 30 carried by a lug 32 on the siphon 13 and brackets 31 on the upper edges of the sides 6. The rod 30 may be replaced by a shaped metal strip. The tank may be made from sheet copper stiffened by flanges 9 with dependent lips 10, and by gussets 11 with or without an end liner plate 29.
