662,166. Dispensing apparatus; dispensing liquids. N.C.K. PRODUCTS, Ltd. Feb. 24, 1950 [Feb. 26, 19491, No. 5279/49. Classes 106(v) and 116 Apparatus for dispensing measured quantities of liquid or semi-solid stuff comprises inner and outer cylinders in telescopic relationship, a piston within the outer cylinder sliding freely within the bore of the inner cylinder to displace therefrom a measured quantity of substance. As shown, Fig. 1, the dispenser 10 is adapted to be attached to a wall by a bracket 11 and an inverted bottle 12 is secured to the dispenser by an encircling strap 14 and screwed clamping rod 15. The apparatus 10 comprises outer and inner cylinders 16, 17, normally held in open telescopic relationship by a spring 20. A piston 21 is adapted to engage the bore of cylinder 17 the piston head 22 being axially adjustably secured in the cylinder 16 by grub screw 23. The head 22 is provided with three holes 29 through which the substance to be dispensed passes from the bottle 12 to the cylinder 17 On upward movement of cylinder 17 the piston causes ejection of substance through the non-return valve 25 formed by a rubber cap having a slit 26. The interior of the bottle 12 is vented to the atmosphere via tube 36 which passes upwardly through the bottle and is open to the atmosphere at 37. The piston 21 is bored to accommodate a spring controlled valve 33 so that if the suction effect created by the downward movement of cylinder 17 becomes too great the valve 33 is pulled down against spring 35 thereby placing the bottle 12 in direct communication with cylinder 17. Unauthorised interference with the dispenser is prevented by a key lock 44 which is received by a pin 42 projecting from a flange of cylinder 16 and passing through a boss 43 in the wall bracket 11. This key lock together with a skirt 41 depending from the bracket 11 protects the screw 40, which secures the rod 15 and hence the bottle 12 to the dispenser, the screws 39, securing the dispenser to the wall, and the screw 23 by which vertical adjustment of the piston 21 is effected. Instead of arms 28 the cylinder 17 may be raised by a lever system carried by the apparatus.
