Abstract

661,892. Supply systems for discharge lamps. EKCO-ENSIGN ELECTRIC Ltd., and STICKLEY, W. A. Dec. 31, 1949 [Jan. 1, 1949], No. 10/49. Class 38 (iv). A discharge lamp L, preferably of the 2-foot. 10-watt type, is operated from an alternating current source M by a step-down autotransformer A having windings B, C for supplying heating current to the filamentary electrodes E, the discharge path, when the lamp is operating, effecting byepassing the winding D of the transformer so that the winding H becomes a series inductive ballast for the lamp. The several windings are disposed on a single core mounted closely adjacent to and parallel to the lamp so as to serve as a " starting strip ". The Provisional Specification refers to Specification 650,168.
