Abstract
659,798. X-ray tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (General Electric Co.). Oct. 30, 1945, No. 28730. [Class 39 (i)] An X-ray tube has an indirectly-heated thermionic emitting cathode having a surface of columbium. The X-ray tube shown in Fig. 1 comprises a glass or metal envelope 4 containing a cathode 11 having a columbium surface heated by a tungsten filament 6 and a copper anode 9, which may be rotating, with a flat or curved tungsten button target 8 slanted towards the window 10. The columbium emitter may be restricted to a given area to produce a focal spot of desired shape and may be in tube, strip, helix or disc form. Specification 659,797 is referred to.
