Abstract
659,778. Electric resistances. COLVERN, Ltd., and COLLINSON, R. F. Feb. 1, 1949, No. 2786. [Class 37] A variable resistance comprises a spindle 19 and knob 21 formed as a one-piece unit made from insulating material. The resistance 15 is contained in a moulded casing 10 having a stop 24, Fig. 3, co-operating with a stop 23 on the knob. The end of the spindle 19 is square to project into an aperture in the movable contact piece 35, the aperture being formed with projecting spring parts 39 which grip the spindle and oppose withdrawal. The piece 35 bears on a part 28 providing the connecting contact 29. The whole assembly is held together by the reaction of the springs 39 on the seating at 26 of the spindle in the casing 10.
