Abstract

859,001. Variable resistors. A. B. METAL PRODUCTS Ltd. Oct. 9, 1959, No. 34350/59. Class 37 A potentiometer or variable resistor comprises a carrier member 1 for the wiper 10, the member being provided with resilient jaws 3 through which the suitably shaped end of a shaft 2 may be pushed to secure the shaft to the carrier member. As shown in Fig. 2, the carrier member 1 is provided with a rectangular slot 7 through which the flattened end of the shaft 2 passes so that any rotation of the shaft is imparted to the carrier member. The wiper 10 is provided with sliding spring contacts 11 and is attached to the carrier by lugs 12. The carrier member 1 is further provided with a stop 8 and a switch actuating member 9.
