A rotary member 2, such as the knob secured to the spindle 3 of a variable electrical component, is adapted to be locked in an adjusted position by an apertured lever 7 rocking about a fulcrum 8 on a panel 5 through which the spindle 3 projects, one end of the lever carrying a friction ring 12 engaging the knob and the other end being movable by a screw 9 working in said panel.
