953,286. Variable resistors. A.B. METAL PRODUCTS Ltd. Oct. 8, 1962, No. 38048/62. Heading H1S. [Also in Division F2] A carrier for a pair of electrically isolated wiping contacts for use in a variable electrical component, e.g. a dual potentiometer, Fig. 1, comprises a pair of arms 6 and 7, Fig. 2, carrying a pair of wiper contacts 4 located in holes 17, the arms being divergent from a junction area comprising a boss 15 located on an extension of the spindle 9 by a tapered nut 23 which engages with a tapered portion 12 of the carrier so that as the nut is screwed down against the carrier the arms 6 and 7 are forced apart. The rotational position of the carrier relative to the spindle is maintained by a driving plate 24, having a slot 25 locating on the flattened portion of the spindle, and a slot 27 engaging a spigot 14 on the carrier.
