Abstract
783,782. Variable resistances. ARDENTE ACOUSTIC LABORATORIES, Ltd. July 13, 1955 [July 19, 1954], No. 21024/54. Class 37. [Also in Group XXXVII] An electrical control component comprises two disc-like plates held in spaced coaxial relationship and an annular control head which is located between the peripheries of the plates so as to be turnable in relation to them with bearing surfaces on the peripheries. An electric control mechanism is located in the space between the plates and control head and is operated by rotation of the head with respect to the plates. Figs. 1 and 2 show a variable resistor in which two disc-like plates 1, 14 of insulating material are held apart by spacer bush 13, a C-shaped resistance element 2 is located on the surface of plate 1 and has its ends brought out at terminals 3, 4. A manual control head 5 of annular construction has shoulders 6 and 15 which bear against plates 1 and 14 and a flange 7 on the aperture 9 of which a contact member 10 is located and is pressed by spring 11 so that as head 5 is rotated the contact member 10 moves over resistance element 2. Electric contact with member 10 is made via spring 11 spacing bush 13 and an eyelet 16. The part 8 of flange 7 may be adapted to operate an " on-off " switch.
