Abstract
<PICT:0655779/IV (c)/1> <PICT:0655779/IV (c)/2> An apparatus for treating textile materials with liquids or gases, comprises a fixed jacketed vessel 1 adapted to be sealed, outlet means 17 for draining liquids and for removing gases therefrom, a permeable container 8 rotatable within said jacketed vessel about a substantially horizontal axis and an inlet pipe 7 for liquids and gases arranged substantially horizontally within said permeable container with openings 24 in the wall thereof to enable liquids or gases passing into the container through said inlet tube to impinge on materials in the container. The inlet pipe is divided longitudinally by 21 to admit either liquids or gases to the container. Gases may be withdrawn from the container and the pressure thus reduced through 19 connected to a pump. By means of the apparatus textile materials may be subjected to a plurality of treatments with different liquids or gases in succession without handling them between the treatments.
