Abstract

655,329. Circular saws. TELES SMITH, Ltd., and ALEXANDER, H. J. June 7, 1948, No. 15293. [Class 145(ii)] [Also in Group I] A motor-driven saw device for pruning comprises a tubular haft 1 having co-axial drive means geared to a circular saw 2 provided with a guard 5 with guide openings 6, 7, 8 and flexible shafting 9 connecting the haft 1 to a motor 11. The haft 1 is provided with screw means for the attachment of one or more detachable haft extensions. The drive means comprises a flexible shaft or a rod in bearings and the sections are joined together by plug and socket clutch members, the drive from the motor 11 being through a spring-pressed clutch 13a. The motor 11 is mounted on a wheeled carriage 11a and the front wheel is provided with clamp means 12b for the attachment of the flexible shafting 9. In a modification the motor may be mounted on a portable stand having a carrying handle. A switch may be provided in the haft 1 to control the motor ignition.
