The hand grip 7 of a portable circular saw is provided with a flat part 10 bored with two holes 12 so that, in the inverted position, it can be attached to a bench. An apertured plate 13 is attached to a safety guard 2 integral with the hand grip and a rod 18 fixed to the plate by a screw 21 carries a slidably-adjustable fence 22. The end of the spindle remote from the saw blade carries means for the attachment of a flexible driving shaft.
