Abstract

966,065. Sawing. WOLF ELECTRIC TOOLS Ltd. April 9, 1963 [April 25, 1962], No. 15804/62. Heading B5L. [Also in Division F2] A guard 8, Fig. 1, pivoted about the blade axis of a portable saw 2 having two handles 3, 4 is retracted, preferably anticlockwise, into a fixed upper shield 7 by actuation of a thumb piece 17 on a toothed sector 14, Fig. 2, which is pivoted at 16 to the shield 7 and which engages teeth 12 on the hub of the pivotal guard 8. The guard 8 is biased to the closed position shown by a coil spring 11 and carries a roller 21 which in the open position rides on a workpiece. A riving knife, Fig. 3 (not shown), is preferably provided at the trailing end of the saw to urge apart the two sawn parts of a workpiece.
