Abstract
622,540. Handtools; handles. CHECKLEY, G. March 22, 1947, No. 7894. [Class 61 (i) and 61(iii)] Several tool bits are mounted in or on the casing of an electric torch so that any one may be moved to an operative position while the torch illuminates the work. Three tool bits, respectively a screwdriver 14 with one edge sharpened for cutting and the other edge roughened to serve as a file, a smaller screwdriver 15 and an auger, not shown, are slidable longitudinally between the torch casing 1 and the battery 2 and can be projected through slots in a cover piece 3. Each too] has a bent end guided in a longitudinal slot 21 in the casing and provided with a spring catch 22 engageable in any one of several cross slots 24 for holding the tool in adjusted position. The torch bulb 4 is sunk in a deep recess in the cover 3. The tool bits may be hinged to the casing instead of slidable and may have extension pieces normally housed in the casing.
