Abstract

1,248,866. Cutting-out tools. ROBERTS SMOOTHEDGE Ltd. 15 July, 1970 [6 Aug., 1969], No. 39471/69. Heading B4B. A device for cutting out circles from carpet comprises a body member 1 a pair of cutting blades 5, 6 capable of being set with respect to the body member in either a retracted, inoperative position or an operative position for cutting, and a pivot pin 10 for insertion into the carpet. The blades 5, 6 are slidable in a slot 7 formed in a holder 3 mounted on the body member 1 which is provided with a wood or plastics handle 2; the blades are clamped in their operative or inoperative positions by means of a screw 8. The pivot pin may be retained in any one of a number of holes (9), Fig. 4 (not shown), by means of a resilient tube 12 located in a bore 11 which is closable by means of a plug 13; the pivot pin may be stored in the bore when not in use.
