Abstract
247,305. Michel, E. Nov. 17, 1924. Circular-saw machines. -A motor-driven saw 66 &c. is mounted on a shaft 60 rotated through gearing 59, 58 from a shaft 55 driven directly from a motor 50 contained in a two-part casing 39, 42. A front guide 82, bifurcated at the rear to straddle the saw is pivotally mounted on an arm 85 adjustably secured between lugs 89 on the casing'46 of the gearing 59, 58. A rear guide 97 with a longitudinal and sharpened edge 98 which travels in the kerf made by the saw is attached to an elongated reduced portion of the casing 42. The tool is secured to the shaft 60 by a key 69 and also by a dowel pin secured to clamping discs keyed to the shaft. On the driving shaft 55, between the motor and the cutter is a fan 117 which forces air through the motor casing on to the tool and also prevents racing of the motor when the saw is not under load. The implement is held by a handle 115 and a side handle and is controlled from a switch 111.
