Abstract

1331858 Power-operated scissors SINGER CO 9 June 1971 [1 July 1970] 19624/71 Heading B4B An electrically-operated scissors comprises a blade 18 adapted to be oscillated relative to a normally fixed ledger blade 42 by means of an electric motor 14 and drive means 22, mounting means 20, 44, 46 for selectively permitting the normally-fixed ledger blade to be moved into cutting engagement with the blade 18 to effect a snip. The blade 18 is pivoted on a pin 20 and oscillated by a crank pin- and slot device Fig. 2 (not shown). The ledger blade is normally urged by a torsion spring 44 against a stop 45 as shown in Fig. 1. When it is desired to effect a snip cut, the ledger blade is placed against a table surface and the housing 12 tilted so as to cause the ledger blade to close towards the blade 18. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the ledger blade 142 is connected by a spring-loaded link 131 to a lever 141 so that upon depression of the latter, the ledger blade is moved towards the blade 118.
