Abstract

711,706. Sawing: grinding. KILLINGLEY, F., and BRIXEY, Ltd. April 24, 1952 [April 27, 1951], No. 9934/51. Classes 60 and 145 (2) [Also in Group VIII] A cutting device, particularly for cutting through flooring, comprises a support 1 having a pair of arms 3 between which a cutter, such as a circular saw 5 or an'abrasive-edged disc, is journalled and oscillated by a handle 9, the device being supported on the surface to be cut by the cutting edge of the cutter and the rear end of the support. The support may be provided with pointed legs 7 or be pivotally connected to a flanged plate having rubber pads, either directly or by means of links, one of which is provided with a handle to permit of limited forward movement of the cutter after each cut. A guard 17 protects the operator's knee and a screwed stop 18 limits the depth of cut. Several attachment holes 16 may be provided on the cutter so that the handle position may be changed to spread the wear on the teeth. The cutting edge may be eccentric to the pivot bolt 11.
