[Classes 145(i) and 145(ii)] [Also in Group XXIV] The work table of a circular saw or the like comprises a base plate 1 able to be reciprocated on the table 3 of a saw bench, the saw passing through a slot therein. The table 3 carries a cage-like structure 8 enveloping the part of the saw protruding through the slot, the front of the structure pivotally carrying a laterally directed cage-like tunnel section 6 open at its ends to allow the work 12 to be passed therethrough. Handles 10 serrated for gripping the work 12 are adjustably pivoted on the frame 6a of the guard 6, and may be provided with ratchet and pawl mechanism to hold them in gripping position. The handles may be used for moving the plate backwards and forwards, or the return may be made by spring means, or counterweights.
