Abstract
654,347. Water-tube steam boilers; superheaters. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd., and SCHAAP, W. F. C. Nov. 23, 1948, No. 30380. [Classes 123(ii) and 123(iii)] [Also in Group XII] In a steam generator of the type disclosed in Specifications 532,245 and 534,279 secondary air inlets and burners 7 are so disposed in the corners of the com bustion chamber 2 as to produce a rotary turbulent flame along the axis of said cham ber, inlets 40 are pro vided in the upper narrowed part 8 of said chamber for the injection of tertiary air or cooled combus tion gases, and a gas passage 28 lined witl water tubes 26, 29 leads downwardly tc a vertical convectior pass 30 containing superheater tubes 41 42. The upper super heater tubes 41 are connected directly to a drum 9 disposed at the top of and in line with the front wall 3 and to an outlet header 43, the lower superheater tubes being connected to upper and lower headers 44 and 45 respectively. The roof of the combustion chamber 2 is provided with a series of dampers 47 whereby waste gases can be diverted to a gas conduit 46 byepassing the gas passage 28 and the convection pass 30. The drum 9 with the front wall 3 is supported from the boiler framework by slings 50 and each bank of tubes defining inner and outer walls are suspended at the same level.
