Abstract
653,935. Rotary plate heat exchangers. AKTIEBOLAGET MOTALA VERKSTAD. July 6, 1948, No. 18199. Convention date, Nov. 6, 1947. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 23, 1949.] [Class 64(iii)] The rotor of a heat recuperator for gases comprises conduits 13. 14 each coiled in the form of a cylindrical spiral between the spaced loops of which one gas, e.g. flue gases, is drawn by rotor fan blades 18 from the region of the rotor shaft 3, while the other gas, e.g. air, passes through the coiled conduits. The air enters the housing 19, in which the rotor spins, through an axial inlet 26 and is drawn through the coiled conduits 13, 14 by way of inlets 9 and outlets 15 by rotor fan blades 17 at the opposite end of the recuperator. The outlet 27 for the heated air from the housing is adjacent the outlet 28 for the flue gases, being separated therefrom by a housing partition 20 and a rotor wall 11. The flue gases enter by way of a duct 25 and an axial inlet 24. A single conduit or more than two conduits can be used and the inlets for the two media may be at the same end of the housing.
