[Class 110 (iii)] In a gas turbine plant of the kind having a number of combustion chambers located between the turbine and compressor rotors which are mounted on a common shaft which has means mounted on it to open and close the inlet ports of the combustion chambers in predetermined sequence, the outlet nozzles of the combustion chambers are arranged to aspirate additional air into the duct or ducts leading to the turbine. The gas turbine plant shown has a turbine rotor 1 and blower rotor 2 mounted on a common shaft 3 between which rotors are located a number of intermittently-operated combustion chambers 9 having at their inlet ends a ported distributer 12 driven by the shaft 3 and at their outlet ends nozzles 10 which aspirate air direct from the compressor outlet through the openings 25, 25a so that the temperature of the combustion gases is reduced before they enter the turbine. To facilitate mixing of the air with the combustion gases; the nozzles 10 may be arranged at an angle to promote a swirling or vortex effect. Balanced pivoted louvres 17 in a diaphragm 16 are used to prevent back flow of the combustion products into the blower from which the combustion air is delivered through pipes 18 in which it is heated by the turbine exhaust gases. The space between the diaphragm 16 and plate 19a may be used as a reservoir for compressed air. The shaft 3 is enclosed in a casing 27 to which cooling air may be supplied. The combustion chambers 9 may be provided with cooling fins which heat up the air passing through the openings 25, 25a. The preheater 18 may be arranged in the inlet to the blower 2.
