Abstract
724,176. Gas turbine plant; centrifugal pumps and compressors. PARSONS & CO., Ltd., C. A., and HRYNISZAK, W. Nov. 30, 1951 [Aug. 30, 1950], No. 21449/50. Classes 110 (1) and 110 (3). [Also in Groups XIII and XXVIII] In a gas turbine plant comprising a power balanced radialinward flow turbine driving a radial-outward flow compressor 3 and a useful power centripetal turbine 29 driving a centrifugal compressor 2, the turbines and compressors are of the specific type shown, the combustion chamber of the plant are disposed in a plane at right angles to the axis of the plant and an air preheater is built around the exhaust duct of the centripetal turbine. The compressors have a louvred inlet 4 provided with a filter 5 and discharge into a scroll 7 having outlets 9, 8 which terminate in an annular diffuser 10. The air preheater comprises two nests of tubes having a fluid agent, such as sodium, circulated therethrough by a centri. fugal pump 19. The turbine 29 drives the pump 19 and also a rotary filter, for cleaning the exhaust gas fed to the air pre-heater, through a quill shaft 27 and a slipping clutch 26, the power shaft being driven through an epicyclic gear train as shown.
