Abstract

1398847 Drying of ceramic goods PVH ENG Ltd 7 Sept 1972 [27 Aug 1971] 40265/71 Heading F4G A pair of reversible fans 4, 6 are mounted symmetrically in ducts 8 on the roof of a dryer 2, the ducts 8 being connected to end ducts 22 for supplying air to and drawing air from the dryer 2, the ducts 8 being linked by a chamber 8<SP>1</SP> divided longitudinally by a flat or convoluted partition 10 into two conduits of which one is connected to an exhaust outlet 12 and the other to a fresh hot air inlet 14, such that the drying effect through the dryer is uniform for either direction of the air flow. The outlet 12 and inlet 14 are controlled by multiple dampers 18 and (14a), Fig. 3 (not shown), operated manually, or automatically to admit more fresh air as the drying progresses. The direction of rotation of the fans 4, 6 is reversed by a timer and switch mechanism. A gas or oil burner is provided at 16. In a modification, the flat partition 10 is replaced by a folded member of pleated form disposed vertically or horizontally.
