Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of a cooling apparatus utilizing terrestrial heat obtained from an underground duct, by providing a by-pass pipe connecting a ventilating port and the underground duct to each other.
CONSTITUTION: An underground duct 2 is opened at an open-air inlet port 4 and indoor air outlet ports 5, and a by-pass pipe 3 is provided for connecting a ventilating port 7 and the underground duct 2 to each other. In case that the temperature of air discharged from an indoor exhaust port 6 is lower than that of open air, dampers 9, 10 are positioned to communicate the port 6 to the by- pass pipe 3. In this state, air flow is circulated in a closed cycle from a fan 8 via indoor air outlet port 5, space in the room, indoor exhaust port 6, damper 10, by-pass pipe 3 to fan 8. Since, according to the above arrangement, space cooling is achieved through utilization of air having a lower temperature of the open air and room air, it is enabled to increase the cooling efficiency considerably.
