652,691. Variable-pitch propellers. HARTZELL INDUSTRIES, Inc. Jan. 9, 1948, No. 785. [Classes 4 and 114] The hand control. when braking is independent of the control in forward pitch. The forward pitch control 76 is placed in front of the pilot, and moves the pitch control valve 51a by link 60 through pivot 64. This valve controls fluid flow to a single acting piston acting to decrease the pitch, pitch increasing being produced by weights producing a centrifugal moment on the blades. Control lever 80 behind the pilot is connected to lever 60 at pivot 68 and moves control valve 51a, and being operated at a smaller leverage moves the valve quickly to the negative pitch or braking range.
