Abstract

Variable pitch propellers INGENJORSFIRMAN S MAN AB 5 June 1970 [6 June 1969] 27360/70 Heading B7V A fluid pressure servo-motor device for adjusting the pitch of a marine propeller comprises an output member 10 and closure member 20 carried by an output piston 11, a spring loaded piston seat 19 movable in cylinder 31 to vary the flow of fluid through closure member 20 to and from chamber 13 in response to changes in pressure in chamber 18<SP>1</SP>, and a manually actuated control valve 40 for regulating the pressure in chamber 18<SP>1</SP> and thereby the propeller's pitch. Valve 40 (Fig. 3, not shown) comprises a floating piston closure member (55) subjected to the differential force of a pair of springs (56, 57) one of which (57) is adjustable by a screw (60) operated by hand control 59. A pitch graduated pressure gauge 41 is connected to chamber 18. As shown piston 11 is spring loaded but in a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) spring 14 is replaced by a fluid loading.
