Abstract

706,338. Variable-pitch propellers. DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO., Ltd., and MANLEY, D. J. April 2, 1951, No. 7612/51. Class 114 A hydraulically operated propeller unit is locked against reduction of pitch on failure of the hydraulic pressure in the supply lines. The piston valve 63 is acted upon by the spring 66 and by the pressure in the fine pitch line 15, this valve closing the line 16 on failure of pressure in line 15. Failure of pressure in line 15 causes the operating piston to " hang " on the line 15 and so close the piston valve similarly.
