Abstract

558,250. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. BLACKBURN AIRCRAFT Ltd and WOODWARD, S. C. Sept. 8, 1942, No. 12646. [Class 135] Aircraft control members are operated by a pilot's control rod 14, and a movable hydraulic cylinder 1, the rod 14 being connected through a slide valve 11 controlling the cylinder to a link 15 pivoted to the cylinder. The link has a guide-way 16 in which is adjustable a block 17 to which the control rod 21 is pivoted. In the normal position of the valve, liquid from a supply pipe 9 passes to the smaller end of the cylinder, and all communication with the larger end is closed. The cylinder cannot be locked by failure of hydraulic pressure, since for one direction of movement, liquid may pass from the smaller to the larger end, and in the opposite direction from the larger to the smaller end through a non-return valve 13.
