Abstract
915,544. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE A.G. Dec. 30, 1960 [Jan. 27, 1960], No. 44755/60. Class 135. [Also in Group XXVI] Apparatus for controlling a centrifugal compressor 1 comprises two diaphragms or pistons 12, 13, the diaphragm 12 being connected on opposite sides by conduits 28, 29 to the upstream and downstream sides of the compressor while the diaphragm 13 is connected by conduits 30, 31 to either side of an orifice 6 located in the discharge or intake conduit of the compressor. The two diaphragms are connected by a linkage, pivoted about an adjustable pivot 20, to a pivoted fluid jet 23 which directs fluid through conduits 25, 26 to act on a piston 8. Pivoting of the jet actuates the piston 8 to adjust a valve member 9 which controls flow in the by-pass conduit 7 to the intake side of the compressor through an opening 10. The conduit 7 may open to the atmosphere instead of the compressor intake. Alternatively, the control member actuated by the linkage may adjust a speed governor of the prime mover of the compressor.
