Abstract

652,348. Piston packing. MARIEN, M. W., and RAMSEY CORPORATION. Dec. 16, 1948, No. 32612. '[Class 122(i)] A piston ring 1 located in a groove of a piston is backed by a polygonal ring 10 to stabilize the ring 1 without exerting radial pressure while the ring 1 contacts the cylinder wall throughout its circumference. The ring 1 may be a slotted oil control ring with a slotted inner ring or a plain pressure ring with a plain inner ring. The rings 1, 10 may be plated with chromium or other metal.
