Abstract

651,988. Resistance coatings and deposits. SCHICK, W. March 5, 1948, No. 6948. [Class 37] A mica condenser wherein each mica plate is metallized to produce the metallic electrodes is combined with one or more resistances in the form of coatings or deposits on one or more of the supporting plates which are made of insulating material. Figs. 1 and 6 show a combined double capacitor and resistance with the latter as a coating of carbon black 8 (or powdered graphite) on one of the end or supporting plates 5. The resistance may be produced by painting, spraying, or vacuum processes or die stamping may be employed. In the latter the resistance may be stamped out of a coated plastic film which is subsequently attached to the supporting plate. If the resistance layer is deposited. on the inner surface of the end plate a thin insulating layer may be interposed between the resistance layer and the metallic electrode. Circuit connections may be deposited. Figs. 2, 7 and 8 (not shown), illustrate a single capacitor combined with a resistance with the latter as in Fig. 1. The metallic coatings on the mica plates may be applied according to the method disclosed in Specification 4-07,599, [Group XXXV].
