Abstract
665,053. Pointed circuits; resistance coatings and. deposits; combinations and sets of resistances. INTERNATIONAL RESISTANCE CO. Sept. 29, 1949 [Oct. 7, 1948], No. 25020/49. Classes 36 and 37. A method of producing resistance networks includes the steps of depositing a resistance coating or layer on one surface of a thin sheet of insulating material, depositing a highly conductive termination coating or layer in spaced areas on said resistance coating and removing coatings only or the latter and the insulation material throughout predetermined zones to form a plurality of resistors. Fig. 16 shows one embodiment designed to provide in a complete unit all the resistors and condensers required in a two-stage amplifier, Fig. 17. To make this unit a rectangular sheet 92 of insulating material, Fig. 15 has a resistance coating 94, for example of carbon composition, and silver termination coatings 96, 98. Beneath the lower termination coating 98 there is another silver coating 100 separated from 98 by an uncoated strip 102. A single stamping operation produces the apertures and terminal holes as shown in Fig. 16, thus to form resistors of the required value and properly interconnected to satisfy Fig. 17. The required four capacitors 154, 156, 158, 160 are then added appropriately connected. To complete the amplifier from the Fig. 16 unit assembly it is only necessary to connect the valve sockets to the appropriate terminal holes. Figs. 1 to 14 (not shown), illustrate various other networks of resistance strips and termination coatings produced from coated rectangular sheets either by punching, stamping, cutting out or simply scraping away the coatings or a combination of all these. The formed resistance strips may vary in length, breadth and thickness of coating as required and coating compositions of differing resistivities may be employed for different strips.
